Donations

DO MORE THAN MAKE IT TO THE FINISH LINE
Get sponsored online and ensure the funds you raise go directly to your favourite cause!
The Murray to Moyne now offers online fundraising! Simply click here and create your team Fundraising Page. Follow the prompts to email the page to your family and friends. They can donate by credit card and each donor will be immediately receipted. No paperwork, no cash, no hassles!
Where appropriate, a receipt should be issued for all donations received. Donations must go to the nominated health agency. They should not be utilised on excessive team expenses. Provide the health agency with a list of donors when presenting all funds raised and request that the health agency issue receipts.
If you get large single donations, make sure that they get due recognition. If this is from a business firm, they should get mentioned in your press reports so they get their money's worth. Large sponsors deserve a personal letter of thanks. If you do not have the resources to do this, arrange this with the health organisation for whom you are riding.
If you are talking about a sponsor, given them a good "plug". If you are given support in the way of goods, food, petrol etc., give them their money's worth also. Donations of $2.00 or more are tax deductible and should be marked on your sponsorship sheet if they require a receipt. Hospitals and other health organisations will always require money.
This is your opportunity to ensure that they will be there if you ever need them.
Publicity for your team is very important. Your supporters will want to know your progress coming up to the ride. Give press releases to your local newspaper and radio station.
Sponsorship sheets, the same as those for a walkathon, are the easiest way of raising money, especially if you have people who know you who realise how hard it will be for you to ride (relay) from the Murray River to the Moyne River, virtually from the top to the bottom of Victoria, in 24 hours.
Setting up a bike on an indoor trainer on a busy shopping day at a central shopping complex with an organised collection group, and cyclists taking it in turns to ride on the trainer to attract attention is also a good selling point.
